Collaboration with Local MPs

Joanne Southall • November 11, 2024
Recently, Julie had insightful discussions with Samantha Dixon, MP for Chester North and Neston, and Esther McVey, MP for Tatton.

During her meeting with Samantha Dixon, Julie highlighted the role of the Parent Carer Forum within the National Network of Parent Carer Forums and shared the key findings from our PCF Survey. They discussed how these results can drive positive change in the borough, with a focus on placing SEND families at the forefront of decision-making. One critical issue raised was the lack of wrap-around and holiday cover for SEND families. Samantha has committed to working with us to ensure that SEND families in our community see meaningful improvements. 🌟

Julie also met with Esther McVey to discuss the challenges our SEND families are facing locally and how we can help drive positive change moving forward. Esther has agreed to regular follow-up meetings and expressed interest in collaborating with our counterparts in Cheshire East Parent Carer Forum and Warrington Parents and Carers - Warrpac. Together, we are stronger! 💪

Engaging with our local MPs is crucial because it ensures that the voices and concerns of our community are heard at the highest levels. By sharing the findings from our PCF Survey, we can provide our representatives with the data and insights they need to advocate for the issues that matter most to us. This collaboration is key to driving meaningful change and ensuring that local needs are prioritised in policy-making decisions.

More meetings are scheduled with MPs across the borough to continue advocating for the needs of our SEND families. We are dedicated to making sure every family’s voice is heard wide and far.
